It all started in 1980.  David and Christine Gochee needed some extra money to help support the family.  David was already helping friends out by fixing their lawnmowers, so they decided to make it a new part time business.  At that moment, Rockville Equipment Repair was born.  David would work full time for the Town of Vernon Public Works Department (PWD) and then come home and fix a couple of mowers in their small, one bay garage in the backyard of their Rockville home.  Word got out, quickly, about the new business in town.  Soon, David even had his two sons, Jim and Joe (ages 9 and 10) helping out doing small tune ups on mowers.

Business had grown to a point that Dave and Chris needed to make another decision.  It was getting to be too much to maintain a full-time job and the business at the same time.  So, in 1988, with both boys out of school, the choice was made that Dave would retire from the PWD, after 19 years, and start Rockville Equipment full-time.  In a little hole-in-the-wall on Windsor Ave., in Rockville, Dave and Chris set up shop.  Even though they had to endure some business crippling situations due to road construction, the business continued to grow to a point that they knew they could not do it with just the two of them.  It was at that point; their youngest son Jim was getting frustrated with his career choice as a machinist and wanted a change.  Jim joined Rockville Equipment and never looked back.

Soon after, Rockville Equipment had out grown its humble location.  So, in 1992, the company moved to its present location in Tolland, CT.  It did not take long for the business to grow to a point that additional employees were needed.  Their oldest son, Joe, was ready to join the team.

The four of them, plus Derek Johnson (who was hired as a teenager and now in his thirties), Doris Hann, Shane Ratcliffe, Elizabeth Gochee and Keith "Andrew" Stachelek, have taken Rockville Equipment to be one of the premiere businesses in the area.

In 2018, Dave and Chris retired from Rockville Equipment and sold the business to Jim.  This ensured that the same ethics and practices would continue for many years to come.
